EarthNow is operated by The Raven Group LLC.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That standard covers the things that decide whether this site is usable without a mouse, without sight, or without the ability to tolerate motion: keyboard operability, text contrast, programmatic labels on every control, and a way to stop anything that moves on its own.
EarthNow is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and we are actively remediating. Partially conformant means some parts of the site do not yet fully meet the standard.
Known gaps we are working on:
Every page has a “Skip to main content” link as the first stop in the tab order, a single main landmark, and a visible focus ring on every focusable control. Body text and form-field outlines meet the AA contrast thresholds. The rotating signal cards on the homepage can be paused, and they do not rotate at all if your system asks for reduced motion — which also stops the ambient background animation, the globe’s auto-rotation, and the intro sequence.
You do not have to change an operating-system setting to stop the movement. A Pause animations button sits in the bottom-left corner of every page. It halts everything that moves on its own — the drifting dust and starfield, the ticker on the Terra page, the globe’s rotation and signal pings, and the signal-card rotation — and the same button plays them again. Your choice is remembered on this device. Live counters keep counting: the number they show is the information, not decoration.
If something on EarthNow blocks you, tell us. Use the Contact link in the footer of any page — including this one — and choose Other as the topic. Describe the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using if you know it.
We read every message and aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days, with an assessment and a plan to follow. If a fix will take time, we will tell you that rather than leave the report unanswered.
This statement reflects our own review of the site against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, combined with automated linting that runs on every change. It has not been audited by an independent third party, and we do not claim full conformance.
